Cut the roof
before you cut
the stock.

PitchCut Rafter Lab is a pocket workshop for common rafters, hips, valleys, birdsmouth seats, and sheathing takeoffs. Enter span, run, overhang, and pitch — get line length, plumb and level cuts, and a rise-run diagram instantly.

Four benches. One shop.

The same copper-and-slate workshop you see in the app: Lab for live math, Desk for layout sketches, Library for pitch cards, Jobs for cut lists that leave the phone.

Lab

Common rafter calculator, hip and valley plan diagonals, jack spacing, birdsmouth seat-depth guards, and sheathing with waste.

Desk

A shop board for placing members, snapping to grid, and exporting a layout snapshot before you walk to the saw.

Library

Pitch card deck from 2/12 to 18/12, nominal lumber notes, and a searchable framing glossary — all on-device.

Jobs

Stack commons, hips, valleys, and jacks. Share plain text or an on-device PDF. Optional cut-list reminder on the home screen widget.

Built like a jobsite notebook

No account. No cloud project. Imperial or metric, waste percent, default overhang, plate width, and rounding live in local preferences. Scenarios and cut jobs stay on the device.

Honest about the math

PitchCut Rafter Lab is educational geometry for carpenters, apprentices, and students. It is not stamped engineering, a code review, or a substitute for local span tables, engineered trusses, or a licensed professional. Verify every cut against the job and the jurisdiction.

Support

Questions about PitchCut Rafter Lab on Google Play? Write the publisher. We read every note about calculators, cut lists, units, and the shop widget.

How do I switch Imperial and Metric?

Open Jobs, tap the settings gear, and choose Imperial or Metric. Lengths, pitch study cards, and shared cut lists follow that unit system.

Where are my jobs stored?

On the device only — local database and preferences. Uninstalling the app, clearing storage, or a new phone without a backup removes them. We do not host your cut lists on a server.

Why did I see a cut-list reminder?

The app may post a local reminder to review the job cut list before cutting stock. On Android 13 and newer this needs the notification permission. You can deny or later disable notifications in system settings; the calculators still work.

Can I share a cut list with the crew?

Yes. From a job, share plain text or generate a PDF on the device and send it through the Android share sheet (mail, messaging, files). Sharing is always your action — we do not upload the file for you.

The numbers look off for my roof.

Check span versus run, pitch rise/run versus degrees, overhang, and plate width. Hip and valley helpers use plan diagonals and workshop rules of thumb. If something still looks wrong, email a screenshot and the inputs you used.

Privacy policy

Effective 21 August 2026 · Last updated 21 August 2026 · Applies to the PitchCut Rafter Lab mobile app on Google Play (Android). The same policy is intended for any later iOS listing of the same product.

This policy explains how DZHEZHELYI YEVHENII (“we”, “publisher”) handles information in PitchCut Rafter Lab (package com.chaseyquintavallelf.pitchcutrafterlab).

1. Who we are

The Google Play account holder and data controller for this app is DZHEZHELYI YEVHENII. Contact: chaseyquintavallelf19832@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

PitchCut Rafter Lab is designed as an offline workshop. The current Android build does not require an account, does not include a sign-in, and does not declare internet access for telemetry.

Information that stays on your device may include:

  • Roof scenarios you save (span, pitch, overhang, notes, favorites).
  • Cut jobs and members (quantities, lengths, plumb/level angles, labels).
  • Desk board layout you arrange.
  • Preferences: unit system, waste percent, default overhang and plate width, rounding, grid snap, theme, onboarding flag.
  • Temporary PDF files created when you choose to share a cut list.

We do not operate a PitchCut cloud that receives your jobs. We do not sell personal information. We do not show in-app advertising in this product. We do not use the app to build an advertising profile.

Google Play and the Android system may process install, crash, and device statistics under Google’s own policies when you use Play or send a report. That processing is by Google, not by a PitchCut server we run.

If Android Auto Backup is enabled on the device, the system may include app data in the user’s backup. We do not receive a copy of that backup.

3. How on-device data is used

  • To compute educational rafter geometry and show diagrams.
  • To keep your job list, library bookmarks, and shop preferences.
  • To refresh the home-screen widget (pitch triangle / cut reminder copy).
  • To schedule an optional local notification reminding you to review a cut list.
  • To build a text or PDF cut list when you tap Share.

Geometry in the app is educational. It is not a professional engineering stamp and is not stored with us for review.

4. Permissions

  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS). Used only for optional local cut-list reminders. You may refuse or later disable them. Calculators and jobs still work.

Sharing a PDF uses Android’s FileProvider so another app you pick can read that one file. We do not browse your photo library or contacts.

5. When you share

If you share a cut list, the content leaves the app through the system share sheet to a destination you choose (mail, messenger, files). That destination’s privacy rules then apply. We do not intercept that transfer on a publisher server.

6. Retention and deletion

On-device data remains until you delete a job, clear app storage, or uninstall. To remove data we might hold in email, write us and we will delete support correspondence that is no longer needed for a support thread, subject to any legal retention duty.

7. Children

The app is a trade-education tool. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child submitted data to us by email, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your choices

  • Use the app without creating an account.
  • Deny notification permission.
  • Delete jobs and scenarios in the app, or clear storage / uninstall.
  • Email us to ask what we hold from support mail, or to request deletion of that mail.

Depending on your country or state, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we do not run a user-account backend, most “in-app” data is only on your device — you control it there.

9. Changes

If the app later adds network features, analytics, or a new store listing, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected here before they apply to new versions where required.
